About the role:

We require someone with experience in child protection and working with families in their homes. You will need to have experience and knowledge working with individuals and families that have complex needs alongside demonstrated experience and strong understanding of trauma, family violence, and child protection risk and assessment.

The Family Therapist provides family therapy utilising the FFT-CW model and as a member of the FFT – CW team reporting to the Family Therapy Supervisor.

The FFT-CW Family Therapist provides family therapy utilising the FFT-CW model to client families where a child/ren are referred to the program by DCJ because of the child protection risk to the family and the imminent likelihood of an OOHC placement for the child/ren. Therefore, holding and reducing risk in the family home is a paramount objective for the person responsible for the role.

This is a Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2026 for an opportunity based in Blacktown within our FFT-CW High Track team Children, Youth and Families Metro Sydney Program. The position reports to the Family Therapist Supervisor.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A Bachelor's qualification in Social Work or Psychology/ Aboriginal Health Worker / Community Welfare Worker or Master of Counselling.
- Post Graduate training in relevant child, adolescent, and family clinical practice, family therapy, and systemic thinking is strongly preferred.
- Clinical experience working with families/ adolescents strongly preferred.

Requirements:

- Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk-assessed / client-facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
