The Company
SAMI Bitumen Technologies was formed in 1978 to meet a market need for new bitumen technology and remains an industry leader in research and development. SAMI is part of Colas, a global leader within the Transport Infrastructure Industry, with activities in construction and maintenance of roads, air, rail and marine infrastructure.
The Role
SAMI is currently seeking an experienced Plant Operator to assist in the production and distribution of Bituminous products. This role suits someone with a Mechanical or Electrical Trade background who is flexible and able to work different shift patterns including weekends as required.
Key responsibilities
- Operating Emulsion and Bitumen production systems
- Operating forklifts and vehicles as required
- General hand and labouring duties
- Load and unload trucks
- Participate in safety meetings and programs
- Ensure compliance with all company guidelines, policies and procedures
- Other tasks as required
The successful candidate will hold
- Valid driver’s license
- White Card
- First Aid certificate
Essential attributes
- Able to work as part of a team
- Able to work efficiently and to deadlines including overtime when required (including weekends)
- Able to handle multiple tasks and follow instructions
Desirable attributes
- Experience in Asphalt, Manufacturing, Civil Road Construction or Bitumen industry
- Knowledge of Bitumen and bitumen products
- Understanding of WHS&E Legislation and safety requirements for Bitumen
