Senior Associate - Insurance & Compensation (Sydney)
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Dealing with originating motions, damages and statutory benefits litigation;
- Providing written advice and recommendations in worker’s compensation and / or public liability matters;
- Gathering evidence by interviewing witnesses and obtaining expert reports;
- Preparing and advocating mediation in Supreme and County Court proceedings;
- Knowledge of Court Rules;
- Researching - to keep abreast of insurance and compensation law changes.
- Management of own files in relation to Court timetable;
- Business Development activities to build profile, produce articles and conduct presentations to keep clients up to date, and assist in delivering seminars and building client relationships.
- Involvement in the supervision and mentoring of both junior lawyers, and law graduates, fostering their professional development and growth within our team.
- Contributing to the Learning and Development programs at Russell Kennedy, including creating and presenting CPD sessions for others at the firm.
Skills/Knowledge
A successful applicant will have
- Minimum 5 years’ post-admission experience in public liability claims, ComCover and / or worker’s compensation with a strong commercial mindset and practical approach.
- Possess excellent drafting skills and have the ability to cope with a varied and intellectually stimulating workload.
- Well-developed initiative, with a demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically.
