The Role
Perseus Mining is seeking a Processing Manager to lead the safe, efficient, and sustainable ramp‑up and ongoing operation of the gold processing plant at the Nyanzaga Gold Project in Tanzania.
This role will play a critical leadership function during the operations readiness and commissioning phases, ensuring the processing plant, team, systems, and operating procedures are fully prepared for a successful transition from construction into steady‑state production.
Reporting to the General Manager, this role will
- Lead the development and execution of the Processing Operations Readiness Plan, including workforce planning, training, standard operating procedures, and operational systems.
- Collaborate closely with the Projects, Engineering, and HSE teams to ensure seamless handover from construction to operations.
- Oversee commissioning and start‑up activities, ensuring that plant performance meets design parameters and reliability objectives.
- Manage all aspects of the gold processing plant, including crushing, grinding, gravity recovery, leaching, adsorption, elution, electrowinning, and tailings disposal.
- Set and manage production targets to achieve gold recovery, throughput, and cost efficiency objectives.
- Implement systems and processes for continuous improvement in metallurgical performance, energy and water efficiency, and reagent use.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and cost models, embedding a culture of accountability and cost awareness.
- Coordinate closely with Mining, Geology, and Processing teams to ensure feed quality, blending, and throughput targets are consistently met.
About you
In addition to a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Process Engineering, with preferred postgraduate qualifications in Metallurgy, Business, or a related field, our ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 10–15 years of mine processing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or superintendent‑level role.
- Extensive experience in gold processing, particularly CIL/CIP operations.
- Proven leadership through commissioning and ramp‑up phases.
- Sound technical understanding of metallurgical principles, plant optimisation, and process control systems.
- Excellent safety leadership and risk management capability.
- Strong analytical, planning, and problem‑solving skills with a results‑driven approach.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in African gold operations preferred.

Where You’ll Be Working
Located in East Africa’s resource rich Lake Victoria Goldfields, the Nyanzaga Gold Project is Perseus’s first operation in Tanzania.
Nyanzaga is currently in the early stages of construction, following a Final Investment Decision made in April 2025 with first gold production is targeted for early 2027.
The project places strong emphasis on sustainability and community development, with programs focused on local employment, infrastructure investment, and long‑term social and environmental outcomes.
