Help shape Australia's national plant phenotyping infrastructure and make a tangible difference to research impact, farmer livelihoods, and global food security.

The University of Adelaide leads the APPN, a national research infrastructure established through the NCRIS. APPN delivers cutting-edge imaging and data collection technologies for plant phenotyping across diverse environments. The network includes nine nodes across Australia, hosted by eight universities and one government department.

We seek a Senior Phenotyping Biometrician to lead statistical analysis methods within our central team and across facilities. This role will advance our capacity to measure novel traits in various environments by implementing best practices and developing new analytical approaches.

The role includes affiliate and co-location options with the Adelaide University Biometry Hub.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead statistical research and consulting for the APPN central office
- Propose enhancements for deployment across the network based on research trends
- Support projects with experimental design, statistical modeling, and reporting for publication
- Explore opportunities for multi-dimensional analytics linking climate and environmental data
- Build a community of practice across APPN nodes
- Conduct workshops and training on biometric analytics

About You

You are a skilled leader in biometry and statistics, eager to join a collaborative network with advanced phenotyping infrastructure. You excel in team environments, solving complex problems, and leading impactful research within a national project.

Selection Criteria

- Proven expertise in biometry/statistics, especially with high-throughput phenotyping data
- Experience with R software for longitudinal data analysis and visualization
- Strong interpersonal skills working with multidisciplinary teams
- Good judgment in decision-making with multiple stakeholders
- Commitment to integrity, respect, and excellence
- Publication record in statistical methodology and applications
- Experience managing teams or programs

Qualifications:

Postgraduate qualifications in Biometry, Statistics, or related fields, with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
