Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Civil Construction Plant Operations, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in maintenance planning, asset management, or industrial operations.
- Proficiency in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and maintenance scheduling tools.
- Strong understanding of plant equipment, preventive maintenance, and safety compliance within a production or manufacturing environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning and Strategy
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive maintenance strategies and schedules for all plant equipment and infrastructure.
- Analyse asset performance data to design cost-effective preventive and corrective maintenance programs that minimise downtime and enhance reliability.
- Establish standard maintenance procedures and ensure alignment with production requirements and safety protocols.
Scheduling and Coordination
- Create and manage maintenance schedules for plant operations, coordinating both internal and external maintenance activities.
- Plan and execute plant-wide shutdowns efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Liaise with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to prioritise work orders and optimise maintenance workflows.
Work Order and Resource Management
- Manage work orders, documentation, and maintenance records through CMMS.
- Supervise spare parts inventory to ensure availability of critical components.
- Monitor procurement of maintenance materials, tools, and consumables in collaboration with suppliers.
Supplier and Contractor Liaison
- Liaise with external suppliers, contractors, and service providers for repair and maintenance work.
- Negotiate service agreements to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and compliance with technical standards.
- Oversee supplier performance and ensure timely delivery of maintenance services.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Australian safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety checks, and audits to prevent equipment failure or workplace incidents.
- Maintain accurate documentation for regulatory audits and internal quality checks.
Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
- Track and report on maintenance KPIs such as equipment downtime, work order completion, and cost efficiency.
- Identify recurring maintenance issues and propose engineering or process improvements.
- Lead initiatives for asset optimisation and contribute to long-term capital maintenance planning.
Technical and Analytical Tasks
- Interpret and revise engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical diagrams as required.
- Perform advanced calculations to support maintenance design modifications or replacements.
- Provide technical support to technicians and production staff in diagnosing and resolving complex maintenance issues.
