Youth justice worker (Nights) are thefrontline staffwhosupervise and support young people overnight at Cherry Creek and Parkville Youth Justice Precincts, our secure facilities housing young people on remand or sentenced to a period of imprisonment.
As a full-timeyouth justice worker on night shift, you will be responsible for:
- maintainingthesafetyandsecurityofour facility
- CCTV monitoring,compliance reporting,responding to alarmsandperimeter searches
- creating asafe and secure environmentfor both staff and young people
- working directly with children and young people in a custodial environment, including regular observation
- redirecting anti-social and challenging behaviour
- responding to incidentsas they occur
- helping young people developpositive relationships
- facilitating supportfrom other services, including health and mental health providers, educators and disability organisations.
T o be successful, y ou will be a keenproblem solverwith greatsituational awareness. T his job can be tough and attimes your resilience will be tested, but by putting in the work, you will see young people make small shifts in their thinking that can have amajor impacton their lives and community safety.

Cherry Creekhas casual and full-time roles available and is located is in Little River, just off the Princess Freeway. It's an easy drive from many of Melbo urne's western suburbs, as well as Geelong. We're currently offering up to $10,000 as a relocation allowance to help cover costs for eligible candidates who are interested in moving to within an hour's drive of the facility.
Parkvillehas full-time roles available and is situated in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne . It is easily accessible by public transport and offers staff car parking . The facility accommodates young people (boys and girls) from 10 years old to 22 years old .

Eligibility
To be considered for a youth justice worker role you must be either:
- an Australian citizen – a birth certificate, citizenship certificate or current passport is required as proof of eligibility
- a permanent resident of Australia
- a New Zealand citizen who has entered Australia on a valid passport, or eligible to work in Australia for a period of more than six months.
Y ou will also need to pass a health and fitness assessment.Learn how your current fitness levels match up and the best ways to prepare .
Prior to starting work, all successful candidates must independently obtain:
- Current First Aid Certification (HLTAID011 is preferred, or the Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course - HLTAID002 at a minimum)
- Current CPR
- Hold a valid Working with Children Check (Employee)
A driver licence is desirable but not mandatory.
