Environment Manager – Tier 1 Transport Infrastructure Projects

I'm working with a major infrastructure contractor on a key appointment for an Environment Manager to support a long-term program of transport and maintenance works across NSW. If you're a proactive and technically strong environmental professional looking to step into a leadership role on major projects, this could be a great next move.

About the Role This is a senior role, responsible for the full spectrum of environmental management on a complex transport program. You'll play a hands-on part in project delivery and compliance, while mentoring junior advisors and driving continuous improvement in environmental systems and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare, review and manage environmental assessments, including Review of Environmental Factors (REFs)
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and government requirements
- Implement and improve the Environmental Management System in line with ISO14001 and Group EH&S standards
- Provide expert advice on environmental risk, compliance, and best practice
- Work closely with TfNSW Environmental Teams and key internal stakeholders
- Monitor site compliance, conduct inspections and audits, and lead incident investigations
- Mentor Environmental Advisors and support their development
- Contribute to reporting, governance, and systemic improvements in environmental processes

What We're Looking For:

- Degree-qualified in Environmental Science, Engineering or Environmental Management
- 5+ years' experience in infrastructure or civil construction environments
- Solid knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and TfNSW Specification G36.
- Experience preparing environmental documentation, including REFs.
- Understanding of ISO14001 and EMS auditing (Lead Auditor certification desirable).
- Strong report writing, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
