Environment Manager – Tier 1 Transport Infrastructure Projects

I'm working with a major infrastructure contractor on a key appointment for an Environment Manager to support a long-term program of transport and maintenance works across NSW. If you're a proactive and technically strong environmental professional looking to step into a leadership role on major projects, this could be a great next move.

About the Role This is a senior role, responsible for the full spectrum of environmental management on a complex transport program. You'll play a hands-on part in project delivery and compliance, while mentoring junior advisors and driving continuous improvement in environmental systems and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, review and manage environmental assessments, including Review of Environmental Factors (REFs)
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and government requirements
  • Implement and improve the Environmental Management System in line with ISO14001 and Group EH&S standards
  • Provide expert advice on environmental risk, compliance, and best practice
  • Work closely with TfNSW Environmental Teams and key internal stakeholders
  • Monitor site compliance, conduct inspections and audits, and lead incident investigations
  • Mentor Environmental Advisors and support their development
  • Contribute to reporting, governance, and systemic improvements in environmental processes
What We're Looking For:
  • Degree-qualified in Environmental Science, Engineering or Environmental Management
  • 5+ years' experience in infrastructure or civil construction environments
  • Solid knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and TfNSW Specification G36.
  • Experience preparing environmental documentation, including REFs.
  • Understanding of ISO14001 and EMS auditing (Lead Auditor certification desirable).
  • Strong report writing, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
