About the Role
As an Asset Management Officer, you will help manage and optimise the shire’s diverse asset portfolio. Your work will support the efficient delivery and maintenance of infrastructure, aligned with the shire’s growth and community needs. This role includes the management, maintenance, and financial oversight of infrastructure assets such as roads, drainage, footpaths, parks and gardens, equipment, and street furniture.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain asset management plans for roads, drainage, footpaths, parks and gardens, equipment, and street furniture.
- Conduct condition assessments of roads and assets.
- Assist with asset management plan reviews.
- Input into long-term financial plans – assets, depreciation, values.
- Coordinate with finance to ensure assets are in the general ledger, financial reporting and annual financials.
- Prepare work schedules for asset maintenance (e.g., roads, drainage).
- Demonstrate high computer literacy and effective communication.
- Meet deadlines and resolve data-related problems.
- Coordinate, review, and update AMPs, including Action Plans, ensuring proper document management and storage in line with Shire policies.
- Monitor and report on AMP Action Plan implementation progress.
- Assess and report on resource requirements for implementing Action Plans across departments.
- Monitor service levels and manage operational risk across AMPs.
- Support the development and implementation of work programs and financial plans.
- Review and manage Demand Management strategies within AMPs.
- Develop and formalise asset management policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, asset management, building, or equivalent experience in a trade/construction environment.
- Strong understanding of asset management practices, financial analysis, estimating techniques, forward planning, and customer service delivery.
- Knowledge of tender preparation, contract administration, and Local Government statutory requirements.
- Experience in contractor management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration.
- Current WA C Class Driver’s License.
- Road asset management in a remote environment, design, construction or maintenance.
- Project management experience.
- Road reporting with Main Roads and Disaster Relief Funding Roads.
Employment Requirements
- This is a regional full-time position.
- 100-point ID check and recent National Police Clearance.
- Willing to undertake a pre-employment medical.
- Valid C Class Driver’s Licence (WA).
- Must have full Australian working rights.
