About Your Opportunity
As the Payroll Compliance Project Officer, you will play a dual role in supporting day-to-day payroll operations while contributing to the successful delivery of a payroll modernization project. This position ensures payroll compliance with legislative and policy requirements, supports continuous improvement, and helps transition payroll systems and processes to modern, efficient solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Process and review payroll transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure timely reporting of superannuation, taxation, and other statutory obligations.
- Respond to employee payroll queries and provide guidance on entitlements and deductions.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure data integrity and alignment across systems.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new payroll systems, processes, and technologies.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Payroll, HR, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent education and experience).
- Extensive experience in a senior payroll or payroll compliance role within a complex organisational environment.
- Proven experience supporting payroll system upgrades or transformation projects, including implementation and testing.
- Strong analytical skills for payroll data analysis, risk identification, and process improvement.
- Ability to design and implement risk‑mitigating controls aligned to project and BAU governance.
- Experience with TechnologyOne and Dayforce payroll systems highly desirable; payroll certification (e.g., Certificate IV) and project management/business analysis experience advantageous.
The position is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months, offering a competitive salary package including 12.75% superannuation.
