The role

Within our Service Delivery Division, Licensing Services receives, assesses and determines a wide range of consumer protection, dangerous goods, and building and energy licenses, registrations, lodgements and applications.

Leading and managing a team, your goal will be to ensure the team provides efficient and effective processing of applications regulated by our department.

This could include managing your team’s activities, assessing, processing and auditing applications as required, resolving highly complex matters and enquiries, developing, implementing and evaluating policies, procedures and processes, producing complex written reports including ministerial correspondence and briefing notes, as well as a host of other key duties.

In this role, you will bring your leadership and verbal and written communication skills.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 24 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.

Should a qualification be required for this position, applicants must provide their certification and/or academic transcripts to verify relevance to the job requirements. Qualifications obtained outside of Australia must be provided with an assessment from the Overseas Qualifications Unit to ensure they meet Australian Standards (this is a free service).

To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, LGIRS will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.

- Highly developed leadership skills and experience in the supervision and management of workplace behaviours and performance.

- Experience in identifying solutions to complex problems with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to prepare complex documents including ministerial correspondence, briefing notes and performance reports.
