We’re looking for Staff Development Midwives to support and empower our dedicated midwifery team across the Wheatbelt region. A current vacancy is available and a recruitment pool is being established for future opportunities. This is a rewarding position in a region known for its vibrant lifestyle and strong community spirit. This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time and Fixed Term Part Time, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. Appointments may be made from this pool until 28/02/2026.

About the OPPORTUNITY
As part of the multidisciplinary team and in collaboration with the Clinical Midwife Consultant, Clinical Midwife Specialists and Regional Nurse Educators, this role plans, implements and evaluates education and training relevant to the clinical practice of the midwifery cohort. It is responsible for the orientation and midwifery development support of midwives and other staff supporting maternity care within the region (including nurses and assistants in nursing/midwifery), and in particular newly qualified and junior midwives. It provides support and clinical facilitation for undergraduate and postgraduate midwives in line with education institution agreements.
To be successful in this role, you will have…
- Advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the practice setting/speciality.
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- An ability to plan, facilitate and deliver clinically situated education and training incorporating adult learning principles; including validation of practical skills.
- Computer skills (including the ability to teach others) across clinical systems which support learning and contribute to quality care.

Open recruitment pool details
This is an open-ended recruitment pool. The panel will monitor the pool and assess applications on a regular basis. Suitable applicants may be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 28/02/2026.
