We’re looking for Staff Development Midwives to support and empower our dedicated midwifery team across the Wheatbelt region. A current vacancy is available and a recruitment pool is being established for future opportunities. The location of this position is negotiable within the Wheatbelt region; however regional travel will be required.

About the OPPORTUNITY

As part of the multidisciplinary team and in collaboration with the Clinical Midwife Consultant, Clinical Midwife Specialists and Regional Nurse Educators, this role plans, implements and evaluates education and training relevant to the clinical practice of the midwifery cohort. It is responsible for the orientation and midwifery development support of midwives and other staff supporting maternity care within the region (including nurses and assistants in nursing/midwifery), and in particular newly qualified and junior midwives. It provides support and clinical facilitation for undergraduate and postgraduate midwives in line with education institution agreements.

To be successful in this role, you will have…

- Advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the practice setting/speciality.
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- An ability to plan, facilitate and deliver clinically situated education and training incorporating adult learning principles; including validation of practical skills.
- Computer skills (including the ability to teach others) across clinical systems which support learning and contribute to quality care.
