City of Melbourne, Australia Culture Amp Full time

Overview

Culture Amp is the world’s leading employee experience platform, revolutionizing how millions of employees across thousands of companies create a better world of work. Culture Amp empowers organizations to transform employee engagement, drive performance management, and develop high-performing teams. Our platform is powered by people science and the largest employee dataset, with clients including Canva, On, Asana, Dolby, McDonalds and Nasdaq.

Culture Amp is backed by leading venture capital funds with offices in the US, UK, Germany and Australia. We have been recognized as a top private cloud company by Forbes and as an innovative company by Fast Company.

How you can help create a better world of work

The Developer Experience team builds internal platforms and tooling that make Culture Amp engineers faster, safer, and happier. We are a cross-functional, internal-facing group tackling systems-heavy problems: local dev environments, CI/CD, frontend delivery, standards, and AI-for-coding enablement. Our work blends discovery, research, and hands-on engineering to remove friction at scale.

Our team’s mission is to:

- Accelerate developer productivity by building and maintaining internal tooling and platforms used across Culture Amp engineering
- Enable high-quality, faster code delivery through AI-assisted coding, standards, and modern developer environments
- Partner with engineers to discover pain points, run spikes, and design pragmatic solutions that scale

You Will

- Own and improve local developer environments (nix/devbox) to bring production-like setups to laptops, including data population and Kafka-related workflows
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and front-end delivery infrastructure/CDN for multi-app routing and performance
- Manage org-wide dependency updates with Renovate and evolve Backstage templates for new project bootstrapping
- Collaborate on Python standards and package publishing; contribute Go (preferred) and/or Python services and tooling
- Design and extend AI-for-coding tooling (prompts, context repos, MCP server integrations) to raise code quality and speed
- Work closely with SRE and product teams on AWS/infrastructure-adjacent problems; do hands-on discovery, spikes, and systems programming
- Communicate clearly, ask great questions, and help shape ambiguous problem spaces into actionable work

You Have

- Solid programming fundamentals, language agnostic, experience in Go preferred; Python/TypeScript a plus
- Interest in developer tooling, internal platforms, and SRE-adjacent work (AWS, CI/CD, Linux/Unix); curiosity to learn unfamiliar tech
- Familiarity with or interest in CLI tools, systems programming, and reproducible dev environments (nix/devbox), experience helpful but not required
- Strong communication skills and comfort operating with ambiguity; proactive in research, experimentation, and planning
- Growth mindset with technical playfulness; eager to explore new tools and lead others through change

You Are

- Motivated to learn and able to work with some autonomy, but seek support and feedback when needed
- Someone who loves collaboration; our teams are cross-functional and you’ll work closely with other engineers from across the product group

Aligned with our values, check them out on our website and demonstrate them through your working practice.

We believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our success. We are committed to fostering a work environment that truly cares for and develops its people, and creates lasting positive impact. In addition to providing a competitive compensation package, some of the key benefits we offer are:

- Employee Share Options Program: We empower you to be an owner in Culture Amp and share in our success
- Programs, coaching, and budgets to help you thrive personally and professionally
- Access to external providers for mental wellbeing and coaching support to sustain wellbeing, safety and development
- Monthly Camper Life Allowance: An automatic allowance paid out each month with your pay
- Team budgets dedicated to team building activities and connection
- Wellbeing pauses and an extended year-end break to support restoration and rest
- Parental leave and in-work support from day 1
- 5 Social Impact Days a year to make a positive impact on the community
- MacBooks and a work-from-home office budget for setting up your home office
- Medical insurance coverage for you and your family (Available for US & UK only)

Additionally, we are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with Employee Resource Groups and ally communities in place. We have a strong commitment to anti-racism and strive to lead by example. You can see our current commitments to Anti-Racism on our site.

Please note: This job description reflects the responsibilities and qualifications for the role and may be updated as Culture Amp evolves.
