Graduate Project Officer – Fire and Emergency Services Location: Nambeelup / Cockburn (Emergency Services Complex in Cockburn Central or Bushfire Centre of Excellence) Role Type: Fixed‑term contract (30 hours per week) commencing January 2026. Duration: 6 months. Salary: Public Sector CSA Agreement 2024 – Level 2 – $76,912 per annum. Example Projects and Duties - Environmental Science (Emergency Services Complex – Cockburn Central) - Fieldwork, on‑ground observations and analysis tasks - Remote sensing analysis and data governance - Urban Planning (Emergency Services Complex – Cockburn Central) - Develop initiatives to promote bushfire management in the local strategic planning framework - GIS & Remote Sensing (Emergency Services Complex – Cockburn Central) - Spatial data analysis, mapping projects and risk assessment initiatives - Automating tasks using scripting tools - Science Communication (Emergency Services Complex – Cockburn Central) - Translate technical information into accessible messages for the public and emergency sector - Media & Videography (Bushfire Centre of Excellence – Nambeelup) - Create multimedia content for training and stakeholder engagement Employment Conditions and Additional Information - You must have completed (or will complete) your undergraduate or postgraduate studies in 2025. - Projects will be based at either the Emergency Services Complex in Cockburn Central or the Bushfire Centre of Excellence in Nambeelup. - National Police Certificate (less than 3 months old) required before commencement. - Permanent appointments will use the Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Fund; fixed‑term contracts have choice of super until conversion to permanent. - DFES supports diversity and inclusion in accordance with the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).
