Overview
A short‑term relief opportunity exists for a Senior Social Worker in the Department of Community Child Health team at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. This is a 0.84 FTE temporary position commencing 12 January and concluding 20 April 2026.
The role will provide a culturally appropriate Social Work service to the children, young people and families that we serve in outreach and community clinics. This includes children with refugee and asylum‑seeking backgrounds, Aboriginal children in collaboration with the La Perouse Aboriginal Clinic team and children with developmental‑behavioural issues.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will provide individual case management and crisis intervention support, referral support to external agencies and use community development and advanced practice skills to provide counselling and engage families and community.
Responsibilities
The Community Child Health team offers comprehensive and accessible services and programs for refugee and Aboriginal children and those with development and behavioural problems and their families in South Eastern Sydney. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Aboriginal staff. Your role includes cultural and clinical supervision, opportunities for further education and training, specialised assessments, therapeutic services for children, and a broad range of community‑based social work services.
You will play a key role in service development and continuous quality improvement to ensure clinical needs of children and their families are met. You will support Aboriginal Health Workers and Allied Health professionals within Community Child Health and SCHN and act as a consultant to key external stakeholders such as Education.
