Job location
Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre. Due to our announced expansion, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team. Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure Mental Health, currently 134 bed, hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation, and continuing care programs. With planned expansion commencing 2024 with significant increase in access to care, we will have a dedicated Women’s service and an additional medium secure men’s facility. Now is the time to join us
About the Role
The Senior Social Worker is responsible for providing high-level social work services in a custodial care environment and overseeing the men’s acute social work stream. The role will focus on provision of recovery, advocacy and psychosocial support as well as provide leadership within the Social Work Service and broader organisation.
Duties
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and hold a Senior Social Worker role.
- Provide expert advice, direct practice, secondary consultation and facilitate reflective practices with teams providing custodial psychiatriccare.
- Develop and implement social workprovisionfocussing on the needs of individual, families/carers and other groups.
- Develop linkages with community-based services, such NDIS, legal representatives, courts and other external stakeholders.
About You
- Extensive experience in an equivalent or relevant social work setting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and supervision for social work staff and students.
- Ability to deliver specialist social work services including clinical, primary, secondary and tertiary consultation within a complex and dynamic environment.
- Proven skills and experience in developing and implementing complex case plans involving direct and indirect social work practice.
- Ability to coordinate and evaluate social work practice and service development activities within a forensic mental health setting.
What you need
Approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
