Job Description

About the role:

Seymour College is seeking an enthusiastic and helpful Education Support Officer (ESO) to join our Junior Years Learning Support team. The ESO will play an important role in supporting the learning and wellbeing of students by working closely with teachers, the Head of Exceptional Learners, and the Learning Support team.

This is permanent, part‑time role works between 15 to 20 hours per week, during term time only. The key responsibilities are to:

- Support teaching staff in the delivery of curriculum and learning activities.

- Provide one‑to‑one or small group support for students, including those with Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).

- Contribute to targeted intervention programs under the direction of the Head of Exceptional Learners and Head of McGregor Campus.

- Assist with standardised testing administration and reporting.

- Provide feedback and encouragement to students to help them achieve their potential.

- Promote a positive, caring and safe classroom environment.

- Support the wellbeing of students by fostering respectful and trusting relationships.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you:

The successful application will hold:

- Qualifications and/or proven experience in an Education Support role within a school setting.

- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students, staff and families.

- A supportive and flexible approach to working in classrooms, small groups, and one‑to‑one settings.

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

- Initiative, problem‑solving skills, and a proactive, collaborative attitude.

- Competence in using Microsoft Office and confidence in learning new systems.

- Current Working with Children Check, RRHAN‑EC certification, and First Aid (HLTAID012).
