Work on cutting-edge engineering projects driven by industry-leading experts - remote work environment supported.
About the Role
JOIN A TEAM POWERING THE FUTURE OF ENERGY
EPEC delivers end-to-end solutions across the full lifecycle of grid connection projects—from pre-enquiry and modelling, through to registration, testing, compliance, and commercial operations. Our expertise spans HV power engineering, EPC delivery (for substations, transmission lines, and BESS BoP), as well as market modelling, SCADA, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) services.
We're growing—and fast. With a wave of new project wins and a strong pipeline ahead, we're building momentum and looking for passionate professionals to grow with us. If you're ready to take your career to the next level in a team that's shaping the future of energy, this could be your moment.
We're on the lookout for a Principal Power Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in either Brisbane or Melbourne or work remotely from a location of your choice (within Australia).
In this pivotal role, you'll drive technical excellence across a range of power system studies using tools like PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim. You'll bring your expertise in end-to-end grid connection processes, guiding the technical delivery of complex studies and ensuring seamless integration with the grid. Your experience with generator performance standards and a deep understanding of Schedule 5 of the NER will be key to your success.
What sets you apart is your ability to build strong relationships—whether you're collaborating with NSPs, AEMO, or mentoring junior engineers. Your inclusive leadership style will help foster a supportive, growth-oriented environment where everyone thrives.
You'll also have the opportunity to:
- Lead innovative design and engineering solutions
- Oversee project controls and subcontractor management
- Conduct site inspections and deliver cost-effective outcomes
About You
You're a driven and experienced professional with a passion for power systems and a collaborative mindset. You bring a strong technical foundation and a desire to lead, mentor, and make a real impact in the renewable energy space.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- A degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics
- Around 7+ years of hands-on experience delivering complex, high-voltage grid connection projects—ideally across design, build, and commissioning phases
- A strong focus on health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ), with a knack for inspiring teams and driving great results—both commercially and for our clients
- Great people skills—you know how to build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and work with customers and senior stakeholders to find the best way forward
- Chartered status with Engineers Australia and RPEQ registration (or you're actively working towards it and keen to get there)
Why Us
This is your chance to be part of a reputable, forward-thinking company with a strong brand and a culture that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence. We value our people and are certain you are making the right choice when you join us.
Our employee perks include:
- Fully stocked snack bar and drinks in the fridge
- Frequent team and social events
- On-site barista to take care of your morning caffeine fix
- Professional memberships
- Access to EAP and novated leasing
- Flexibility to enable work/life balance
- Ongoing professional training and development
- Career progression in a fast-growing organisation
We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates. We respectfully request no agency approaches.
