Overview

Girton Grammar School is seeking a dedicated Junior School Teacher to join us in shaping the educational journey of young learners within a vibrant and nurturing environment. This is an ongoing, full-time teaching position starting in January 2026.

Responsibilities

- Design and deliver engaging lessons that foster a love of learning and encourage every student to strive for their personal best.
- Develop dynamic curriculum materials that are challenging, comprehensive, and inclusive, catering to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning, participate in professional development opportunities, and contribute to the school’s co-curricular activities.
- Regularly assess student progress, provide feedback, and adapt instructional strategies to maximise learning outcomes.
- Build meaningful relationships with students, families, and staff to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Uphold the school values and contribute to the rich co-curricular life of the Junior School.

Key Selection Criteria / Essential Qualifications and Skills

Education and teaching:

- A bachelor’s degree in education and current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
- A passion for and demonstrated curriculum knowledge of applicable subject areas and the creative and effective delivery of teaching and learning programs.
- Strong skills in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), especially as they relate to teaching and learning.
- Commitment to co-curricular activities.

Analytical Skills:

- The ability to use and understand educational data and outcomes to enhance educational programmes and teaching practices.
- Commitment to staying informed about relevant educational best practices and a willingness to implement improvements for ongoing process enhancement.

Communication Skills:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders, including teachers, instructors, administrators, and parents.
- The ability to convey information and concepts to other staff in a clear and understandable manner.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with academic and administrative staff.

Organisational Skills:

- Well-developed organisational skills to manage multiple people, tasks and programmes concurrently.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, unexpected challenges, and last-minute adjustments in scheduling of programmes and activities.
- Efficient time management skills, including the ability to manage complex processes within specified deadlines.
- Ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining a high standard of work.

- A commitment to student wellbeing and child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours.
