Overview
Girton Grammar School is seeking a dedicated Junior School Teacher to join us in shaping the educational journey of young learners within a vibrant and nurturing environment.
This is an ongoing, full-time teaching position starting in January 2026.
Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Head of Junior School, your primary responsibility is to design and deliver engaging lessons that foster a love of learning and encourage every student to strive for their personal best. You are expected to develop dynamic curriculum materials that are not only challenging and comprehensive but also inclusive, catering to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
Beyond the classroom, Junior School Teachers at Girton Grammar actively contribute to a collaborative school culture founded on respect, optimism, and integrity. You will regularly participate in curriculum planning sessions, professional development opportunities, and co-curricular activities, ensuring that your teaching remains innovative and aligned with best educational practices. By building meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues, you help to create a positive atmosphere where each child feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
Your role also includes ongoing assessment and feedback, supporting student progress and adapting strategies to maximise learning outcomes. Key Selection Criteria / Essential Qualifications and Skills
Education and teaching:
- A bachelor’s degree in education and current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
- A passion for and demonstrated curriculum knowledge of applicable subject areas and the creative and effective delivery of teaching and learning programs.
- Strong skills in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), especially as they relate to teaching and learning.
- Commitment to co-curricular activities.
Analytical Skills:
- The ability to use and understand educational data and outcomes to enhance educational programmes and teaching practices.
- Commitment to staying informed about relevant educational best practices and a willingness to implement improvements for ongoing process enhancement.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders, including teachers, Instructors, administrators, and parents.
- The ability to convey information and concepts to other staff in a clear and understandable manner.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with academic and administrative staff
Organisational Skills:
- Well-developed organisational skills to manage multiple people, tasks and programmes concurrently.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, unexpected challenges, and last-minute adjustments in the scheduling of programmes and activities.
- Efficient time management skills, including the ability to manage complex processes within specified deadlines.
- Ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining a high standard of work.
Child Safety:
- A commitment to student wellbeing and child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours
