About the Opportunity

As the Aboriginal Academic Lead and Senior Lecturer Psychological Sciences, you will provide leadership in implementing the latawina Aboriginal Health Curriculum Framework across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. You will work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff and community to embed culturally safe practices and knowledge into teaching, learning, and assessment. In addition, this role will:

- Lead the design, delivery, and continuous evaluation of Aboriginal health curriculum and assessment in Psychology
- Support academic staff to build cultural capabilities and integrate Aboriginal knowledge across programs
- Deliver high-quality face-to-face, blended, and online teaching
- Mentor students, including higher degree research candidates
- Contribute to the school’s research program, advancing your research profile through publications, competitive funding applications, and supervision of higher degree research students
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure programs meet accreditation standards and create a safe, inclusive, and supportive university environment
- Participate in academic leadership, administrative functions, and professional collaborations across the school

What’s Required

- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culture and ways of knowing and doing, particularly as they relate to Indigenous health and health leadership
- Ability to communicate effectively and in a culturally informed and sensitive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Experience in teaching and learning design using Aboriginal pedagogies, and development and delivery of courses and programs at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
- Proven success in curriculum design, innovation, and use of educational technologies and online delivery methods
- Strong research track record with evidence of impact, excellence, leadership, and successful student supervision
- Proven ability to support diverse student cohorts and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Experience with industry engagement and work-integrated learning
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships
- An understanding of and alignment with the University of Tasmania’s mission, objectives, and values

Qualifications and Licences

- A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field of Psychology and undergraduate training in Psychology, such as a bachelor degree.
- Current and valid registration to Work with Vulnerable People in Tasmania.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $184,076 comprising base salary within the range of $138,536 to $157,330 plus 17% superannuation.
