This role combines agricultural consultancy expertise with hands-on research management, focusing on improving production animal health, productivity, and welfare through evidence-based research. Task & responsibilities Key Duties and Responsibilities Production Animal Research & Consultancy to Animal Health Companies: Manage the animal phase of GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) studies in accordance with regulatory standards for animal health companies Conduct study procedures according to protocols and study plans, ensuring accurate data collection and recording on production animal health, nutrition, feed quality, health parameters, and environmental factors affecting livestock productivity Study and assess the effects of animal health interventions, veterinary products, and management practices on production outcomes through controlled research trials Provide expert consultancy to animal health companies on livestock disease control, parasite management, animal husbandry practices, and feeding programs for production animals based on research findings Develop procedures and techniques for improving efficiency of production animal systems, advising on health, nutrition, and management techniques to optimize farm productivity and animal welfare outcomes Collaborate with animal health companies and external stakeholders on production animal research outcomes and best practice recommendations Maintain high standards of compliance and quality assurance throughout research activities, including biosecurity, animal welfare standards, and regulatory compliance in production animal management Communicate professionally with research sponsors and stakeholders regarding study progress and research-based advisory services Qualification & experience Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or related field At least one (1) year of relevant experience in a Study Manager role or a related position involving agricultural or animal research. Demonstrated experience in production animal management, animal husbandry, and livestock advisory services Knowledge of agricultural production systems, animal nutrition, and livestock health management Experience in data collection, analysis, and providing evidence-based recommendations to improve production outcomes Understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards is highly desirable Proven ability to handle various production animal species with confidence and care Strong attention to detail with ability to follow protocols, SOPs, and timelines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in project management and data management software Current driver's license and willingness to travel to remote locations as required Key Competencies Expertise in advising on production animal health, nutrition, and management practices Ability to analyse agricultural data and provide practical recommendations Strong understanding of factors affecting livestock productivity and welfare Effective team collaboration and professional stakeholder engagement High degree of accuracy and compliance in research activities Time management and ability to work to deadlines About Company Invetus is a leading provider of veterinary and production animal research services in Australia.
