What’s the opportunity?

The Senior Finance Analyst (Melbourne) works closely with senior business unit leaders to support business priorities and deliver strategic commercial insight to enable and support business growth.

Working alongside the business unit GMs and other senior stakeholders, the Senior Finance Analyst provides insightful reporting of business performance and plays a key role in aligning business strategy and financial objectives. The Senior Finance Analyst has ownership of monthly performance and implementation margin reporting along with annual Budgets and forecasts. The role is to facilitate a robust business decision making processes to ensure optimal allocation of resources and return on capital.

This is a highly visible role with regular interaction with key internal and external stakeholders including exposure to all levels within the organization. Strong relationship building skills at every level are therefore a must In addition, the Senior Finance Analyst must have exceptional communication and influencing skills and will thrive in an environment where they will be key to uplifting the commercial understanding of business leaders through proactive partnership, coaching, and knowledge sharing to leverage insights from across the business to help drive business decisions.

While experience gained in similar industries or roles could be advantageous, the role is open to the right candidate and would be open to individuals transitioning from Audit, Financial accounting or Commercial reporting and FP&A.

About the role:

- Work closely with the Executives and Senior leadership to enable successful implementation of a new project governance framework.

- Deep dive into implementation margins across all products before embedding the above framework to enable a path to appropriate/acceptable margins.

- Preparation and presentation of monthly financials for across various product and regions.

- Reporting/forecasting model building and leveraging systems to improve automation and speed in execution

- Preparation and analysis of business cases for the Business including commercial review

- Budgeting and Forecasting – annual budget, quarterly/ rolling 12-month forecasts, run-rate analysis.

- Assisting business leaders with messaging including preparation of slideware and analysis for business reviews and other ad hoc reports as required.

- Continued development of budgeting and reporting tools and financial reporting models.

- Provision of appropriate leadership across the organisation in finance related matters including roll out and adoption of new systems and processes

- Identifying potential improvements to current processes and policies to improve control environment and/or increase efficiency

- Applying of professional judgement/scepticism when analysing results or providing board commentary

- Supporting the Finance team and wider organisation with transformation and transition into unified systems and processes.

- Preparation and delivery of training to increase financial literacy of company staff and to aid decision making and performance

- Proactively seek out Business and commercial issues and lead projects to help resolve.

About you:

- Strong relationship building skills are key with expertise in the effective management of diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and able to work collaboratively.

- Strong financial modelling skills with an ability to leverage technology to improve robustness of financial models and improve user experience.

- A high level of conceptual, analytical, and interpretive skills with strong excel skills.

- Strong prioritisation skills and task and outcome driven.

- An Understanding of financial and commercial driver-based modelling.

- Ability to grasp and apply simple management accounting principles such as Volume/Rate analysis.

- Strong accounting and commercial business skills with experience in an annual planning and re-forecasting process.

- Comfortable working under pressure, team-player, able to work with minimal supervision, with strong organisational and time management skills.

- Ability to evaluate and prioritise key tasks and flexibility in managing multiple/conflicting deadlines.

- Ability to support the delivery of quality operational and business outcomes aligned to the organisation’s strategic direction.

Education/Certification/Qualifications:

Bachelor qualifications in Finance or related Business discipline

CPA or CA qualification preferred, or part way through completion
