About the opportunity
There is currently one (1) 5 year fixed-term position with the possibility of extension and/or permanency available for immediate filling.
We are seeking a self-starter Project Officer to join our supportive, dedicated Agriculture and Resource Management and Assessment branch. We deliver science and advice for sustainable agricultural production in WA.
In this opportunity you will build your Project Management experience by supporting Project Leads in delivering milestones on time and to budget for three key partnership projects across our Rangelands Science and Soil Science teams. You will liaise with our Finance team and be responsible for:
Responsibilities
- coordinating milestone reporting
- coordinating audits and evaluations
You will also support an advisory group, collaborations with partners, funders and key stakeholders, with the option of attending workshops and/or field work. You will work with team members based in regional locations around WA.
What we are looking for
We are looking for individuals with:
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to apply these with a solution-focused approach to support project delivery within a team.
- Ability to use organisational finance systems to track and report on budgets. Desirable: Budget management experience in a government context; experience with Oracle-based systems.
- Ability to coordinate budget tracking, milestone reporting, audits and evaluations. Desirable: Demonstrated experience in some or all of these.
More about the projects
- Assessing pastoral lease stock carrying capacity by mapping vegetation and consulting with pastoralists. The information will be used by land managers and government regulators.
- Supporting healthy soils through engaging growers and assessing soil quality; and healthy estuaries by helping growers optimise fertiliser application.

Eligibility to Apply
To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia.
