About the Role
School Psychologist – 0.6 FTE (Full Time Equivalent). Location: Koonawarra Public School. Commencing: 27 January 2026. Base salary ranges from $101,122 to $160,983, plus incentives and leave loading, with total remuneration up to $182,461.
Key Accountabilities
- Provides counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups, including short-term therapeutic interventions within the constraints of training, experience, and supervision.
- Engages and implements the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
- Works with the principal and staff to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities.
- Supports the social, emotional, and academic development of students and manages complex behavioural needs.
- Administers cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioural assessments, reports findings, and collaborates to improve learning, wellbeing, and mental health outcomes.
- Works collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents/carers, and agencies to develop appropriate school-based support.
- Assists schools experiencing serious incidents.
- Refers students and families to other agencies that support student health and wellbeing.
Essential Requirements
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and the NSW AECG Partnership Agreement.
- General or Provisional Psychology Registration with active internship with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance.
- Current and valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between work sites.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Applicants must also demonstrate the following (half a page each):
- Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions and understanding of children and young people mental health needs.
- Experience in the psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes of children and young people, including students from diverse backgrounds and needs.
