St Hilda’s School is seeking applications for the following position commencing 1 September 2025 (or as soon as possible) until 30 November 2026, with the high likelihood of an ongoing appointment.
Fixed Term, Part Time
0.4 - 0.6 FTE (2 - 3 days) 8.00am – 4.00pm
In order to suit your other commitments, we are willing to negotiate on the following areas for the right candidate:
- 2 or 3 days a week (0.4 – 0.6 FTE)
- Flexibility as to which days of the week
- Paid or unpaid time off during school holidays.
As the School Psychologist, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students. Working in alignment with the St Hilda’s School Counselling Policy, you will provide psychological support and counselling to individual students and groups. Collaborating closely with parents, teachers, and school leadership, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive both personally and academically.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counselling to students and their families experiencing social, emotion, physical or academic concerns
- Conduct appropriate assessment of student needs and devise appropriate strategies to enhance welfare and education outcomes for students
- To liaise with staff to ensure holistic support for students and devise and deliver preventative mental health programs
- To provide risk and safety assessments
- To provide referrals for students to the appropriate external health professionals
- To maintain accurate and up to date notes and files.
Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements
- Formal qualifications at Degree level in psychology with post-graduate qualifications in educational psychology, child and adolescent psychology, student counselling or school psychology desirable
- Experience working in a school environment, with adolescents or liaising with schools an advantage
- Evidence of general registration with Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Current First Aid, CPR and Mental Health First Aid Qualifications or willing to obtain prior to commencement
- Occasional after hours work such as evenings and weekends may be required as we are a Boarding School.

The successful applicant must be willing to have their name submitted to the Anglican Church’s Professional Standards Register.
