Pro‑Rata Salary Range of $70k Base to $80k Base (dependent on experience, skills and capabilities) plus 12% Superannuation and access to Not‑for‑Profit Salary Packaging with a value of up to $15,900.

We are seeking a Communications Officer to support the local delivery of our Global Communications and Marketing strategy. This role sits within our busy Communications and Marketing team who are responsible for building the global reputation of The George Institute through media relations, digital platforms, marketing initiatives and internal communications.
In this position, you will support the execution of the communication activities in Australia and contribute to building awareness of the brand and positioning of our organisation as a key player in global health.
This is a hybrid role based in Sydney. Successful candidates will attend the office 1‑2 days per week, with Tuesdays being an in‑office day to support team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver strategic communications for Australia in alignment with the Global Communications and Marketing Strategy
- Identify and develop impactful stories that showcase our work
- Create media releases, social media content, web stories and blogs
- Collaborate with various departments across our organisation supporting strategy and content creation
- Build and maintain relationships with Australian media and manage media enquiries
- Support global media opportunities and promote events via internal channels
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Up to 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and ability to multi‑task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
- Ability to engage effectively with staff at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to respond to media requests outside of normal business hours
- Strong MS Office skills and confidence working with digital platforms
