Two permanent full-time positions are available for immediate filling, based in Broome.

Broome offers access to diverse surrounds with premier fishing opportunities (barramundi, demersal and pelagic), and nearby attractions such as the Gibb River Road, Dampier Peninsula and 80 Mile Beach.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Fisheries and Marine Officer you will:
- Lead compliance and enforcement activities related to fisheries and marine legislation.
- Oversee investigations, surveillance, community education and mentoring employees in compliance activities.
- Plan and conduct patrols and support prosecution processes.
- Provide guidance on interpretation of legislation; contribute to policy development and improving compliance strategies.
- Engage with the community to ensure awareness of laws and consequences.
Qualifications and requirements
- Current relevant maritime qualifications and experience in operating and maintaining vessels, 4WD vehicles and associated equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant compliance legislation, governance framework and operational procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.

Employment Conditions and Additional Information
DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency; employees may be required to work or travel outside normal hours to assist with incidents and emergencies. You will be required to provide a current National Police Certificate before commencing employment (police clearance). If not held, it must be obtained prior to appointment at the applicant’s expense.
This pool is valid for 12 months following finalisation and may be used to fill other similar vacancies at listed locations. Being appointed to the pool does not guarantee placement to a position.
