Café Fresq is looking for a Chef
Are you passionate about curating exceptional experiences through Food? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chef to elevate our offerings at our establishment.
We are a well-established licensed café located in the heart of Port Douglas. We have run the venue for 10 years and we are very confident we offer great food and coffee, drinks & service.
Job Description: We are seeking a talented and dedicated Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. As an employee you will play a crucial role in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, ensuring consistency and excellence in every plate.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook dishes according to the restaurant's standards and recipes.
Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations.
Maintain a clean and organised workstation.
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
Oversee the creation of menus, assess food and labour requirements, and coordinate the ordering of kitchen supplies.
Supervise and evaluate the consistency and presentation of dishes throughout the cooking process.
Liaise with management and other staff to address menu updates and other kitchen-related matters.
Provide guidance and demonstrate advanced cooking skills to improve kitchen techniques.
Prepare meals to a high culinary standard, ensuring consistency and timely service.
Promote and uphold strict hygiene and safety practices within the kitchen.
Take part in recruiting, training, and developing kitchen personnel.
Assist in the proper storage and preservation of food items, including freezing where appropriate.
Requirements:
Proven experience as or similar role.
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Passion for culinary arts and a commitment to quality.
Relevant culinary qualifications with a minimum diploma qualification with a minimum 1 year relevant work experience.
