We are the regulator of the Victorian legal profession, licensing lawyers and overseeing service standards and conduct. This includes handling complaints about lawyers, investigating poor conduct, and overseeing management of trust accounts. We also administer the public purpose and fidelity funds to support legal regulation and access to justice in Victoria.
We are a modern best practice regulator, using data and insights to help identify where our actions can have the greatest impact on ensuring ethical and professional legal practice by Victorian lawyers. We are passionate about maintaining and protecting the rule of law by ensuring the integrity of the legal profession.
Assistant Manager Role
We're looking for an Assistant Manager to join our Costs Dispute & Compliance Team on a fixed term basis. You will be responsible for managing and developing staff who respond to a high volume of consumer and disciplinary matter complaints using various regulatory tools, including informal resolution, mediation, investigation, costs reviews, and recommendations for determinations and/or compensation.
Responsibilities and Requirements
We are looking for candidates with the following:
- Substantial experience in customer service, complaints handling, or regulatory environments, with demonstrated team leadership and people management skills
- Strong understanding of legal practice regulation, and proven ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and case law
- Highly developed communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- A high level of computer literacy and ability to use information technology resources conscious of confidentiality and privacy
- A formal qualification or accreditation in Alternative Dispute Resolution or significant experience in dispute or complaint management
