Department purpose
Recognised as a leading adviser on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Private Equity (PE), Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and other corporate transactions we are able to combine exceptional transactional skills with specialist expertise including antitrust, technology, regulatory, and tax. This enables us to handle the numerous issues that can arise in a single corporate transaction. A&O Shearman is the only 6‑time winner of the FT Innovative Lawyer Awards. The firm was the first law firm to implement AI tool Harvey at an enterprise level, saving staff 2‑3 hours a week on average on routine tasks. ContractMatrix is the firm’s own drafting tool, created in partnership with Microsoft and Harvey. It is a contract negotiation tool that uses AI and other techniques to free lawyers from processing and allows them to focus on strategic questions. In some cases it saves around seven hours when negotiating a contract. Expert human decision-making, and judgement, is at its heart.

Role purpose
We are looking for an Australian, New Zealand, UK or US qualified Lawyers with 3 to 8 years experience to join our corporate team in Sydney, on a full-time permanent basis. We offer:

- Outstanding academic credentials.
