This role will see you enhance your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s Mining Capital Projects team. You will collaborate with talented professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities.

Our global team of over 5,200 dedicated mining professionals are supporting the industry to decarbonise mining operations in the accelerating green transition. What you’ll do:

This role will oversee the development, delivery, and growth of a substantial portfolio within our Mining Capital Projects business unit, focused on our Eastern States. The purpose is setting strategic direction, planning pursuits, compiling forecasts and budgets, and performance reporting, while also managing team performance and ensuring alignment of daily activities with the sector’s strategic goals. Key responsibilities include:

- Develop strategy and plans to drive sector growth and development opportunities for the region and work in conjunction with the wider leadership and project delivery team.
- Provide strategic leadership and support in pursuit planning.
- Lead and support development of a cross-functional team of professionals and ensure collaboration with key stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and environmental standards.
- Identify client needs and opportunities, offering innovative, senior-level solutions to address client challenges.

About You

We are seeking a seasoned leader with a solid track record in major project delivery across the mining asset lifecycle to guide a well-established and successful team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in overseeing large-scale, multi-disciplinary, and complex mining projects, typically valued over $1 billion, within an EPCM framework. Success in this role will hinge on your commercial acumen, strong stakeholder relationships, and technical expertise in the mining sector.

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Construction Management or Commerce.
- Extensive experience working in the resources sector, with commodities such as coal, gold, bauxite/alumina, rare earths, and mineral sands.
- Proactive mindset and strong financial and commercial experience to lead and expand the East Coast Mining Capital Project offering.
- Proven experience as a people leader successfully guiding and coaching teams.
- Proactive approach to addressing challenges and managing risks.
