Casual Child and Family Support Assistants
Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement
About the role
This is an exciting time to be a part of Wyndham’s early years services With over 100 babies born every week in the municipality, Wyndham is a growing community that looks for open-minded, passionate, and community-focused people to respond to their needs.
In the Child & Family Support Team, you are integral to the success of the Community Support Department by delivering high-quality customer service and administration skills to facilitate access to Maternal & Child Health services for the community.
This rewarding role will require you to be able to address the needs of our community in an efficient and effective manner, maintaining compliance with our regulatory and operational requirements and procedures. Never a dull moment in this role, you will thrive with your attention to detail, positive stakeholder collaboration, and exceptional customer service skills.
We are seeking Child & Family Support Assistants to join our team in a casual capacity. In our casual pool, you will generally be notified in-advance of any rostered days. The rosters are developed in consideration of leave, workload, and known service demand peaks, and your Team Leader will remain in regular communication to understand how your availability aligns.
Within the team, your day-to-day will see you processing notifications of new births in Wyndham, responding to nurse requests, maintaining the appointment calendars, and, crucially, supporting customer access to the service. Previous experience in MCH, health, early years services, or a similar, highly-regulated environment is desirable.
To get the most out of your training and engagement, we are seeking applicants who are regularly available for 3 days per week, noting that we understand that this may not always be possible.
What your day will look like
Providing friendly, professional, and helpful assistance to community members, supporting them to access early years and family services that meet their needs.
Delivering accurate and efficient administrative support to the Community Support Department, contributing to the smooth operation of all children and family services.
Processing birth notifications and appointment bookings in line with council policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Maintaining accurate records, data entry, and statistical reporting using council databases and reporting systems.
Supporting continuous improvement by assisting with general administrative tasks and other duties aligned with your skills, abilities, and the needs of the team.
What you will bring
Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment collaboratively and respectfully, striving towards Council’s values, policies, and procedures
Strong administrative experience, with proficiency in a range of computer systems and the ability to learn other software programs
High-level customer service and problem-resolution skills to support community and stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
The ability to organise and control one's own workload and time to achieve specified outputs
Availability to work on an ‘as needed’ basis
Certificate in administration or relevant administration experience
Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
If you progress past the interview stage, you may be required to complete pre-employment screening, which may include police checks, a medical, qualification verification, and an Australian work rights check.
