Inventory Controller – Mining & Heavy Industry (Wacol, QLD)

We are currently seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to join a leading organisation in the mining and heavy industry sector. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth flow of materials, parts, and consumables to support production and maintenance activities across workshop operations.

This is a Monday–Friday position based in Wacol, offering flexibility with a 5:00am or 6:00am start. The role is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, with excellent hourly rates of $45–$48 p/h depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage site-based materials, consumables, PPE, and inventory levels to meet operational needs.

- Parts receiving, booking, storage, and issuing through ERP systems (SAP/Oracle experience highly regarded).

- Coordinate goods in/out processes, including subcontractor items.

- Conduct stocktakes and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.

- Support technicians with parts preparation and billable tasks to meet production deadlines.

- Operate forklift and overhead crane to move parts, materials, and equipment safely.

- Manage calibration schedules for equipment and maintain chemical register compliance.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prevent stock outs and reduce excess inventory.

- Provide timely reporting on material availability, shortages, and consumption.

- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, and workplace policies.

Skills & Experience

- Current LF Forklift Licence – essential

- Experience with overhead crane operations

- 5+ years’ experience in inventory control, materials management or procurement within a heavy industrial/mining/fabrication environment

- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Oracle preferred)

- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

- Proven experience in stock control, forecasting, and supplier/subcontractor management.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

- Knowledge of LEAN principles or Six Sigma advantageous
