This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026

The School

Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, with a student population of over 2300, approximately 180 teaching staff, and 70 support staff. The school offers an inclusive and comprehensive education for Years 7 to 12 and is the school of choice for many local and international families.

Harrisdale SHS is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Japanese teacher to join our languages team. This is an opportunity to contribute to a thriving school community that values academic excellence, cultural engagement, and global citizenship.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience teaching Years 7 to 12 Japanese, with a strong understanding of effective language pedagogy and the ability to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum. Experience or ability to teach ATAR Japanese is highly desirable.

- Is confident in delivering curriculum that promotes language proficiency, intercultural understanding, and authentic communication;
- Can inspire students through inclusive, student-centred learning experiences;
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment;

- Is willing to contribute to pastoral care and co-curricular programs that enrich student life and strengthen school culture.

There may also be opportunities to engage with our sister school in Hyogo Prefecture, including collaboration, exchanges, and international trips to Japan. Experience in planning and leading excursions, cultural tours, and international exchanges will be highly regarded.
