Salary Range: $68,000 – $80,000 per annum + superannuation (negotiable based on experience)

Sono Administration Pty Ltd is currently seeking a talented and experienced Full-Time Chef to join our award-winning team at Sono Japanese Restaurant, Brisbane's premier destination for modern Japanese dining located along the beautiful Brisbane River.

About the Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified chef with a passion for Japanese cuisine. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2–3 years' relevant experience, a strong understanding of traditional Japanese techniques, and a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery. Experience in sushi and sashimi preparation will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in daily food preparation and carry out duties as directed by the Executive Chef
Prepare appropriate food quantities for daily service
Support production across all kitchen sections, including teppanyaki and sushi counter
Ensure high standards of food safety and consistent food quality
Follow recipes and instructions to maintain consistency and efficiency
Stay up-to-date with new cooking techniques, ingredients, and presentations
Monitor cleanliness, food wastage, and assist in cost control
Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Restaurant Manager on daily service needs and special events
Contribute to menu development and creation of unique, inspiring dishes

Requirements:

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (mandatory)
Minimum 2 years of proven experience in a similar role within a Japanese or fine dining kitchen
Experience in sushi, sashimi, and Japanese culinary techniques is essential
Ability to lead a section of the kitchen independently
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Professional presentation and high standards of hygiene
Flexibility to work across day and night shifts, including weekends
Full working rights in Australia
