Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed Term - Part Time, Permanent - Full Time, Permanent - Part Time

We are seeking to establish a pool of English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD) Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The School

Cyril Jackson Senior Campus (SC) provides students with an alternative approach to Year 11 and 12 schooling. It is one of two senior campuses in Western Australia that offer secondary education to students beyond the compulsory age of 18 years. It hosts an Intensive English Centre (IEC) which caters for up to 250 newly arrived migrant or refugee students. These students participate in an English language program for up to two years before completing Years 11 and 12. International Fee-Paying Students are also accepted.

In addition to IEC graduates, students in Years 11 and 12 include school-aged children working towards their Western Australian Certificate of Education, 18 and 19-year-old repeaters and mature age students, returning to education to gain tertiary entrance qualifications, to follow an interest or to gain a skill-based qualification. Enrolments are accepted from across Western Australia and students hail from many diverse backgrounds. Students enrol because they see Cyril Jackson SC as a place of opportunity to further their education.

Role and Responsibilities

Suitable applicants will ideally possess experience teaching EAL/D in an IEC and/or the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) context and will possess EAL/D/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) qualifications. Applicants who also have mathematics or science backgrounds, primary teaching backgrounds, experience teaching limited schooling students or experience teaching WACE Careers and Employability courses are also encouraged to apply.

The Cyril Jackson SC IEC enrols newly arrived migrant and refugee background students with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, aged 16 and over. These young adults are resilient, motivated, and engaged learners. Through the study of a range of core and elective subjects, students acquire Standard Australian English, and the academic skills and knowledge needed for success in Senior Secondary WACE and Vocational Education Training (VET) courses. Students also gain an understanding of the Western Australian education system and are supported in planning pathways for future education, training, or employment. Most students remain at Cyril Jackson SC for Years 11 and 12 where Foundation, General and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) EAL/D is offered.
