Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) owns, operates and invests in infrastructure which delivers gas to more than two million homes and businesses, and is one of the largest gas infrastructure businesses in Australia. AGIG manages distribution networks, transmission pipelines and storage capacity. AGIG recently grew to over 1300 employees. We also manage a large contractor workforce, who provide both specialist and operating and maintenance services on AGIG’s gas distribution networks.

We will continue to work with customers and stakeholders to deliver and develop the energy infrastructure solutions essential to lowering emissions – including through natural gas, renewable gas and carbon capture and sequestration solutions.

About the Opportunity

AGIG is looking for an External Communications Advisorwho will play an important role in shaping how we engage with our communities and stakeholders. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusive, accessible and impactful communication.

In this role, you’ll help deliver our Corporate Affairs Strategy by creating communications that reflect who we are: customer-focused, committed to operational excellence, supportive of our people, and dedicated to building sustainable communities. You will also contribute to our environmental and social initiatives as we work toward a net‑zero future.

This role offers flexibility in location and can be based in Adelaide or Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop clear, engaging and accessible speeches and presentations for the executive leadership team.

- Draft inclusive public relations materials, including media releases and responses.

- Create content across a range of channels that reflects AGIG’s values and vision, supporting the broader Communications team.

- Safeguard and enhance AGIG’s reputation by reviewing external materials to ensure accuracy and alignment with our brand.

- Create and deliver issues‑based communication plans and campaigns, including key messages and fact‑based content.

- Coordinate communication activities across the organisation to ensure consistent and inclusive messaging for diverse audiences.

- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Corporate Affairs and media strategies.

- Build positive, respectful and transparent relationships with journalists and external communication partners.

- Represent AGIG in public affairs forums and industry meetings.

- Ensure the corporate engagement calendar is accurate, up to date, and aligned with organisational priorities.

About You

- Experience in Communications or Corporate Affairs, including developing written, visual and spoken communications.

- Experience in supporting executives with high‑quality communications, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and stakeholder expectations.

- Experience in developing and delivering communication strategies.

- Confidence engaging with media, or a willingness to develop this skill with support.

- Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to work effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.

- Ability to identify opportunities to elevate AGIG’s reputation through media, speeches and presentations.

- Strong time management, organisation and collaboration skills.

- Ability to translate strategy into practical, accessible and impactful communication outcomes.

- Proficiency with MS PowerPoint.
