Senior Financial Accountant

Overview

Origin is looking for a skilled finance professional to join the team and provide day-to-day financial services to APLNG. This role covers full financial and management accounting and reporting for the APLNG Consolidated Group, working closely with Upstream and Downstream Operators and other service providers to ensure robust financial results. The ideal candidate will deliver timely, accurate information, provide technical accounting advice, maintain strong internal controls, and recommend system enhancements to streamline processes.

Responsibilities

- Coordinate and assist with the preparation of half-year and full-year consolidated and subsidiary financial statements, including statutory reporting and consolidation reconciliations.

- Assist in preparing Audit Committee papers, workpapers, and disclosures related to financial statements.

- Support monthly management reporting, including review and approval of journals, consolidation of APLNG financial results, balance sheet reconciliations, and budgeting/forecast information for the CSP team.

- Provide insights into business performance to add value to APLNG and its shareholders.

- Assess new accounting standards and their impact on APLNG.

- Review corporate service recharges to APLNG and advise on adherence to the Corporate Service Agreement.

- Manage stakeholder relationships with APLNG, APLNG's Operators, and Origin Corporate groups.

- Address technical accounting queries, including writing technical accounting papers.

- Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen financial control.

- Supervise and coach junior team members and influence other stakeholders in related teams.

More about you

- CA or CPA qualification with experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting under IFRS.

- Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency consolidations.

- Attention to detail with the ability to analyse information and synthesize insights.

- Self-directed, motivated, and focused.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience with Oracle, SAP, or other top-tier financial accounting systems.

- Experience with Hyperion Financial Management and/or SAP Group Reporting.

- Experience in customer-focused finance service roles and/or joint ventures.

- Understanding of the Oil and Gas industry is beneficial.
