The Data Unit is an interdisciplinary team tasked with improving how the public sector uses evidence to make better decisions and policy. We work with a broad range of agencies and tackle the State’s most complex social, health, environmental and economic issues. The work we do underpins better strategy, operations and service delivery in the WA public sector.
About the Role
This is an engaging and multifaceted opportunity to join a new function, work with a broad range of stakeholders, and implement new legislation that shapes how agencies collaborate and government decisions are made.
As part of this role, you will shape the implementation of the responsible information sharing provisions of the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024. This involves:
- Developing policy instruments, such as regulations and guidance.
- Working with a broad range of agencies to help them prepare for the reforms.
- Setting up a statutory State Government Advisory Committee and groups such as a Community of Practice.

Permanent appointment
- To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia at the time of applying.
