Join Our Team as a Parks Crew Leader
Are you passionate about the great outdoors and ready to make a tangible impact on your community? Townsville City Council is looking for an enthusiastic Parks Crew Leader to help maintain our stunning parks and open spaces for everyone to enjoy.
- Give Back to Your Community: You'll be at the forefront of keeping our open spaces pristine and inviting for both locals and tourists.
- Lead with Purpose: Provide field supervision and hands-on support to ensure the smooth delivery of weekly and daily maintenance schedules.
- Quality and Safety First: Manage service quality, technical compliance, and worksite safety, ensuring everything runs like clockwork.
- Share Expertise: Offer practical technical advice to our operational staff, guiding them to achieve excellence in maintenance activities.
- Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with Team Leaders and technical specialists to identify and address resource needs, aligning with our operational goals and future objectives.

- Supervise and Inspire: Lead your crew to success, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery of maintenance works.
- Communicate Effectively: Engage with relevant stakeholders to keep everyone informed and aligned during works delivery.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
Mandatory
- Certificate III in Horticulture or significant experience in managing on-ground operational crews in the delivery of allocated Horticultural work activities.
- Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD) (essential)
- Current “C” class manual driver’s licence (essential)
- A high level of oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively and professionally engage with and influence others.
- Sound problem solving skills with the ability to achieve creative, effective and efficient solutions to challenges and changes.
- Current "MR" Class Licence.
- Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) certified under the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Part 3 2016).
- Knowledge of the capabilities and safe operation of a range of light plant and equipment including chainsaw.
- First Aid/CPR/Emergency Life Support Certificate.
- Agricultural Chemical Distribution Certificate (ACDC) accreditation.
- Accredited Chainsaw ticket (Level 2).
- Visual Inspection Park Facilities accreditation.
