About The Role
This role is responsible for providing field supervision, technical advice, and the successful delivery of scheduled small-scale construction projects, along with the implementation of effective reactive repairs within the playground's construction program.

The ideal candidate will supervise a crew of operational staff and oversee the installation, renewal, and maintenance of a broad range of Townsville City Council open space assets, ensuring all works are delivered to a high standard of quality, safety, and compliance.

Working closely with Team Leaders and technical specialists, the candidate will manage day-to-day site operations, coordinate resources, and contribute to planning and problem-solving. A strong focus will be placed on meeting operational requirements, ensuring technical compliance, maintaining worksite safety, staying within budget, and communicating effectively with all relevant stakeholders.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:

Mandatory

  • QLD working with children blue card (essential).
  • Current manual "C" class driver's licence with the ability to obtain an "MR" driver's licence.
  • Construction Industry White Card QLD).
  • Certificate III in Horticulture or significant experience in managing on-ground operational crews in the delivery of allocated Horticultural work activities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading personnel in the construction of infrastructure related to park and open space assets.
  • Demonstrated experience of conducting basic survey and set out tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience in concrete laying and finishing.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction materials and their application.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of Quality Assurance processes, in a civil construction environment.

Desirable

  • Certificate associated with the successful completion of the Safe Working Near Live Exposed Parts training course.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) accreditation under the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Part
  • Trade based background – preferably construction landscape or carpentry (highly desirable).
  • Cert III Construction landscape qualification (highly desirable).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Australian Playground Safety Standards (AS4685:2021).
  • Previous experience of installation and maintenance of play equipment and parks assets.
