Job Description

The Families crisis accommodation support Team supports the Immediate Housing Response (IHR) for families and individuals accommodated in motels and other emergency settings across Brisbane. Through team integration, coordination with internal programs, and external networks, the team works to ensure quality service delivery aligned with IHR guidelines. The team plays a central role in supporting frontline staff and enhancing the consistency, responsiveness, and effectiveness of Micah Projects' IHR service model.

We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Family Crisis Outreach Worker to work with families who are eligible for the Immediate Housing Response (IHR) Program, providing outreach support in motels and crisis accommodation, and assisting them to engage regularly, access services, and transition into safe housing.

This is a one year fixed term full time employment opportunity at Level 4 of SCHADS Award.
The role involves weekend work on a scheduled roster.

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Responsibilities:

- Work closely with the Housing and Homelessness Hub to coordinate intake and referrals for families.

- Work with families who are eligible for the Immediate Housing Response (IHR) Program.

- Meet with families at the Housing and Homelessness Hub or in crisis accommodation.

- To make appointments with families and meet with them regularly to ensure constant engagement and communication.

- Relevant Human Services certificate, diploma or tertiary qualification and extensive experience, or a combination of experience, expertise, and competence.

- First Aid Certificate, or ability to obtain one.

- Demonstrated ability to engage and build respectful, trauma-informed relationships with families experiencing homelessness or housing crisis.

- Strong skills in outreach, case coordination, and maintaining accurate records, with the ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and external services.
