Overview

A leading government department is seeking a dedicated Payroll Service Officer to join their highly regarded Payroll Processing team based in the heart of Brisbane CBD. This is an exceptional opportunity to become part of a supportive and inclusive workplace that values your commitment to delivering accurate and timely payroll services. The position is temporary until June 2026, with the possibility of extension.

What you'll do

- Process and validate end-to-end payroll and establishment transactions with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring all deadlines are met without compromising quality.
- Provide comprehensive business support through data entry, spreadsheet management, and word processing tasks that underpin the smooth running of payroll operations.
- Work as an integral member of a collaborative team, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to achieve shared goals in a positive work environment.
- Identify areas for enhancement within existing processes, actively recommending and participating in continuous improvement initiatives that benefit both the team and wider organisation.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal stakeholders, fostering trust and open communication across departments.
- Deliver consistently high-quality customer service by responding promptly to queries, resolving issues with empathy, and ensuring all interactions are handled professionally.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills by effectively prioritising competing demands and meeting multiple deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail.

- Demonstrated ability to undertake all key functions required for effective payroll processing as outlined above, including transaction validation and administrative support.

- Strong capability in monitoring work progress using available tools or systems, coupled with clear reporting skills that keep stakeholders informed.
