At Swyftx, we’re on a mission to build a more open and accessible financial system, one that empowers the next generation of wealth builders, savers, borrowers and businesses. With over 1.2 million business and retail clients, we’ve grown into one of APAC’s leading digital asset platforms and now we’re taking things further by bridging the worlds of crypto and traditional finance. This is more than just a job—it's an opportunity to shape the future of an industry leader. As a Tech Lead at Swyftx, you'll play a key role in planning, designing, leading, and delivering technical solutions that drive engineering excellence and innovation. We're seeking someone with strong front-end expertise, particularly in React, combined with full-stack capabilities to support the entire team. With a passion for leadership, you'll coach and mentor your squad, helping them grow and reach their potential, while working closely with the Engineering Manager to support and develop the team.
Please note this is a Melbourne based role, and we have hybrid working, with two days per week in our Melbourne office.
How we work
- We are organised in product squads, with a product manager, designer and tech lead in each, along with anywhere from 3 to 6 engineers.
- Squads are responsible for domains such as deposits, trading and customer onboarding, and look after setting roadmap for delivery of major new features/products, optimizing existing features/products, and dealing with tech debt.
What we build
- Our stack is Node.js, AWS and React/React Native.
- Our trading platform needs to be highly scalable to deal with sharp peaks in the market.
- As custodians of our customers’ money, security is also a key consideration in how we engineer things.
- With over 800,000 customers, we place a lot of emphasis on design and user experience so that our customers can have the easiest-to-use and most trustworthy experience.
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:
- Lead by example, writing high-quality, scalable code while also coaching and supporting your team’s technical growth.
- Conduct code reviews, fostering high standards and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance through 1:1s and technical mentorship, promoting knowledge sharing and career growth.
- Champion agile practices, ensuring effective sprint planning, task allocation, and successful project delivery.
- Implement and enhance processes, tools, and governance to maintain technical excellence and compliance across all teams.
- Leading the team in managing key areas of Crypto and Fiat operations, including portfolio migrations, transactions, and financial reporting, while driving efficiency in reconciliation and internal tools.
To be successful you will have:
- Extensive engineering experience, including experience in a technical leadership role.
- A strong technical background with a deep understanding of software development principles, architectures, and best practices, with a particular emphasis on front-end engineering and React.
- Experience partnering with product management, design, and other stakeholders to define product roadmaps, prioritize features, and ensure that engineering efforts align with business objectives.
- Willingness to teach and mentor other developers to achieve exceptional results
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.
Some of our perks and benefits include:
- Fully stocked kitchen, breakfast and lunch foods, unlimited fresh fruit and snacks.
- An inhouse barista and weekly catered lunches on a Wednesday.
- Unlimited fee‑free trading.
- Career growth, training, mentorship, and development opportunities.
- Social activities, game breaks and end of month awards.
