The Role

The Senior Statutory Planning Officer oversees a broad spectrum of significant development applications, and provides accurate, consistent, and efficient advice on all matters related to Town Planning within the Town of Cambridge. With your expertise in statutory planning, you will be able to offer mentorship to other officers and collaborate effectively with internal staff.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate’s core values will mirror the Town’s values of Friendly and helpful, Teamwork, Creativity, Integrity, and Respect, and be able to demonstrate the following:

- At least 2 years’ experience in the assessment of a range of planning and subdivision applications, including Development Assessment Panel (DAP) applications and experience in processing development application reviews through the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).
- A sound understanding of the legislative planning framework including strategic and statutory planning processes in Western Australia.
- Demonstrated high level report writing skills, including preparing complex planning reports to Council and DAP.
- Experience in managing competing demands of stakeholders while ensuring the assessment of applications is undertaken in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Ability to effectively manage time to ensure the delivery of an efficient and accurate planning service to the community.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to engage a range of professional and community stakeholders and ability to negotiate with a helpful and solution focused approach.
- Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline (substantial completion of qualification may be considered).
- Right to work in Australia (birth certificate, current passport or current visa)
