Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time (38 hours a week) receptionist to join the team at Townsville Airport. Based at Townsville Airport, our Administration team provides effective and efficient support to our greater Airport team to enable our operations. Vidusha, our Operations and Standards Manager shares her unique experience of working with our airports: I initially joined QAL as an intern and I was impressed by the friendly and supportive work culture that was nurtured at the organisation. Shortly after my internship, I was offered the opportunity to join the team at Mt Isa Airport and needless to say I was beyond thrilled. As a fresh-out-of-university graduate, I loved how helpful and accommodating my work colleagues were - I can always rely on my leaders and team for guidance. I enjoy working with a team of seasoned aviation professionals who are passionate about what they do, and it doesn’t fail to inspire me. I’ve been with QAL for over year now and I learn something new every day. In my role, not only do I oversee the administration duties at the airport, but I also get the opportunity to work on various tasks and projects that help broaden my knowledge and understanding of the operational aspects of running an aerodrome. QAL also provides various avenues to support my professional development.

How will you make an impact?

We’re looking for a detail oriented and proactive individual to join the team. If you enjoy keeping things organised, staying on top of tasks, and supporting a professional environment, this role is for you. Our ideal candidate is someone with a strong customer focus and exceptional organisational skills to join our team. You’ll bring a solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to handle tasks with efficiency and attention to detail. While experience in a similar role is desirable, we’re committed to providing comprehensive training to set you up for success.

The base ordinary hourly rate of pay for this position is $31.92 excluding superannuation.

Key responsibilities

Administration

- Efficiently handle administrative tasks such as distributing and preparing mail, word processing, data entry, and maintaining up-to-date lists and registers.
- Manage appointments with precision and ensure meetings and events are seamlessly organised, including catering arrangements.
- Provide administrative support for airport operations, such as visitor passes and car parking, ensuring smooth coordination and documentation.
- Oversee the handling and tracking of lost property, ensuring items are logged, stored securely, and appropriately actioned.
- Provide general administrative support to the Airport team as needed, ensuring smooth operations across the board.

Reception

- Be the welcoming face of the Townsville Airport Management Centre, delivering exceptional customer service to all guests.
- Answer and manage phone calls professionally while maintaining the office phone system.
- Keep the reception area presentable and efficient.

Financial and Procurement Support

- Create and manage Purchase Orders accurately and efficiently.
- Book staff travel arrangements, ensuring all bookings are cost-effective and meet travel policy.
- Order office and operational supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained to support day to day activities.
