Position Overview

As a Volunteer Van Driver, you’ll be an essential part of our logistics team, helping collect and deliver donated goods between Lifeline’s retail stores, donation bins, and warehouse in Smeaton Grange. You’ll support the day-to-day flow of donations that help fund our crisis support services, all while engaging with our friendly team and giving back to your community. Hop in, drive with purpose, and help us save lives, one delivery at a time

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys being on the road, staying active, and making a positive impact through practical support. Full training and support are provided.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive Lifeline vehicles to collect and deliver donated goods (no truck license required)

- Load and unload items safely and efficiently, with the help of warehouse or store staff

- Support donation bin pickups and stock transfers between retail stores and the warehouse

- Assist with basic vehicle checks and ensure the van is kept clean and tidy

- Represent Lifeline positively while interacting with store teams and donors

- Report any vehicle issues, hazards, or incidents to the Warehouse Manager or Coordinator

- Follow safe driving practices and Lifeline’s Work Health & Safety (WHS) procedures

- Use appropriate manual handling techniques and PPE (e.g. steel-cap boots, high-vis vest)

- Comply with Lifeline Macarthur & Western Sydney’s policies and procedures

- You may also be asked to assist with other reasonable tasks within your skills and abilities.

What We’re Looking For

- A full, valid driver’s licence (no special licence required)

- Confidence driving a van or similar vehicle (manual and/or automatic)

- A friendly, can-do attitude and willingness to help

- Ability to perform moderate physical tasks (lifting, loading, moving stock)

- Punctuality, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility

- Support for Lifeline’s mission and values

Bonus (but not required)

- Experience in driving, logistics, or delivery

- Knowledge of the local area (Macarthur and South West Sydney)

- Ability to assist with donation sorting or warehousing when needed

Personal Requirements

- Steel-cap boots – required for safety

- High-visibility vest – provided if needed

- Comfortable, practical clothing suitable for manual handling and driving
