You have the power to shape things to make them better.**About the Role**In this key role, you will be responsible for assessing our Training and Development programs across both the Huntly and Willowdale mining operations. This involves evaluating current programs to identify strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring alignment with best practices and business objectives. The position will be primarily based at the WA Mining HUB, with regular travel to both mine sites required for effective stakeholder engagement and understanding operational training needs.Recognising the importance of work-life balance, this role offers a family-friendly Monday to Friday, days-only roster. Additionally, you will benefit from a paid leisure day every four weeks, providing valuable time for personal pursuits and well-being. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on our workforce development while enjoying a supportive and flexible work environment.Key responsibilities include:* Complete a L&D Assessment of our existing operations, including a gap analysis and goal matrix of our WA Mining operations.* Providing functional leadership in the deployment of standard training methods and measures across the location, in the areas of safety, process, mechanical, business improvement, interpersonal, mobile skills, technical, apprentices and traineeships.* Sharing and implementing best practice processes across WA Operations and ensuring that training processes align to WA Operations standards and legislative requirements and are correctly deployed into the operating areas.* Holding accountability for measuring the health of training within mining and facilitate continual improvement in the pursuit of operational excellence.* Designing, developing and facilitating learning and development programs.* Providing strong leadership ensuring continual improvement and achieving consistent high standards at all levels.* Working with a network of L&D Consultants and training support functions across multiple locations to ensure the Refinery transfers best practice initiatives.**What’s on offer*** Attractive remuneration and variable bonus plan.* Employee growth and development opportunities.* Parental leave support for all caregivers.* Employee assistance program for personal support services.* Alcoa Live Well program offering travel, lifestyle, health and wellbeing discounts.* Generous leave entitlements including a leisure a day off every 4-week period.* Salary packaging for a novated car lease, employee share plan and superannuation options.**What you can bring to the role*** Tertiary qualification HR/Learning and development related, and proven experience as a Learning and Development professional, with a strong background in a similar industry, preferably mining.* Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive L&D assessments, including conducting gap analyses and creating a goal matrix to identify and address training needs.* Experience in the full cycle of L&D, including designing, developing, and facilitating various training and development programs.* Knowledge and experience in sharing and implementing best practice processes to ensure training programs align with operational standards and legislative requirements in Western Australia.* Proven ability to provide strong functional leadership and guide a team of L&D consultants and support functions across multiple locations.* Expertise in measuring the effectiveness of training programs and a commitment to continual improvement to achieve operational excellence.**Additional information*** Interviews may progress prior to the closing date, although all applications will be considered.* You will only be contacted if you are shortlisted for an interview, this process can take up to four weeks from the closing date.**About the Location**Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
